Post It Notes App and The Modeling That Brought Me To It

Yesterday, we had a meeting.  The meeting concluded with writing suggestions for moving forward on a Post-it Note.

This morning I received this image from our leader.

I like how Mrs. Uelmen modeled the use of an app!  It sparked my interest as to what and how to use the app.  Currently, the Editor's Pack of the app is free!  I like how the app captures only the note and not the surrounding parts of the picture.  I like how the creation of boards can be exported to almost everywhere via the sharrow on the iPhone/iPad.  I exported the note to Notability so that I could annotate the groupings of notes.

I see some potential in this app.  I also appreciate modeling of the app by a colleague.  It's always important to use the tools that know work.  Using instead of always preaching about tools is an effective way to motivate others to use the tools, much like it motivated me to investigate this app!

Adobe Spark Pages In Criminal Justice

For a few years, our Criminal Justice students used Thinglink to create interactive posters that explained different types of hate crimes.  The final product was good, but the workflow wasn't as easy as it could be on an iPad.

Enter Adobe Spark Pages.

Mr. Pirman stated that this year the workflow was so much smoother.  Students created Adobe Spark Pages creations and shared the links via Canvas (our Learning Management System)

Creating A PDF on iPad and iPhone in Safari

Because of Jonahan Wylie's written instructions on how to quickly do this, I learned two things.
I created a video that should compliment Mr. Wylie's fantastic written workflow!

ShoulderPod R2 Unboxed

On February 20, 2016 I blogged for the first time on the S1 product from ShoulderPod.  I have always been asked to create videos telling various stories from our high school.

My iPhone is the best camera I own, and today I was able to add R2 The Pocket Rig to my video tool kit!  Please VIEW THE IMAGES as I UNBOX (each image has information that describes the contents) the product and consider watching the video with the assembled product!
The R2 product is fantastic, and I highly recommend it!

Lunch N' Learn Questions & Answers From Staff

Something a little different today (and possibly next week if we don't get through the material)!
I sent a form out to staff asking for technology integration questions of which I would provide the answer!  I didn't provide the link only an image below as I required log in from district.

I created a presentation that we will discuss during lunch!
Great Questions, Helpful Solutions!

Flipboard Magazine Resource For Journal Reflections in Communication in Writing

In the past, one printed article was handed to the students for a "response journal" in Communication in Writing class.  Students read the exact, single article that was given to them from the teacher.  Reflect and apply it to their life and the assignment was complete.

With the implementation of Flipboard we accomplished two objects:
  1.  Introduce students to a tool (Flipboard) that can provide quality written and visual resources to get them interested in topics they love.
  2.  Create a quality magazine developed by the teachers that centers on  articles based on Communicating in the Workplace.
Introducing Flipboard reminds of the times in elementary school that we
used Play-Doh.  The teacher always let us "create whatever we wanted" for about 10-15 minutes and then it was time to develop a clear product based on teacher direction.  The way Flipboard sets up their "Get Started" page on a mobile device sucks users in because the students get to choose the topics they love.  As soon as they are done choosing topics based on their interests, Flipboard immediately populates riveting articles and resources to view and read.

Even the most reluctant students get sucked into the greatness of Flipboard.

While students choose one article to reflect on via the magazine that
Mr. Mentink created they respond to questions on paper.  (Created by Mr. Manning)

Notability For (Track) Coaches

As Notability has been taught to our teachers and utilized by our students, educators are getting more comfortable.

Today, Mr. Jeff Braun came into my office with enthusiasm and stated how he used Notability at a track and field clinic over the weekend.  He said, "When the clinic showed the PDF version of the clinic notes, I said 'Hey, I could put that into Notability!'"

He shared with me his clinic notes.  The presenters notes are completely annotated with Coach Braun's notes!

Success! For the coach and for the athlete!

Adobe Spark Pages as a "Get To Know Me" Activity in Health Class

Mrs. Moseng learned about Adobe Spark Pages during a recent Lunch N' Learn.  She decided to use the iPad app, Adobe Spark Pages, as the tool for the students to create something that would help Mrs. Moseng know more about the students.

Canva Is Perfect Tool For Marketing Principles High School Class

I'm so pumped about being able to share and teach one of my favorite creation tools to students today!

Canva!

We will be utilizing it in two stages.  To begin, students will create an "Album Cover" that will represent them and something they love! This will give them the opportunity to play with all of the elements in Canva.  (Sort of like the five minute free time with the Play Doh in elementary school)  After that, students in Marketing Principles will create their marketing poster using Canva!

I will also be showing them the Design School in Canva as it is a tremendous resource! Check out my creations.
