Explain Everything AP Statistics

Mr. Martinson, AP  stated, "Every student in here can do the math, it's the explanation of the data collection and the process that's being assessed."

That's where Explain Everything enters the classroom!  Students in AP Statistics provided a perfect canvas for students to describe the process of data collection and analysis.

*The video contains the Explain Everything app prior to update.  We updated the app after class and students prior work transitioned to the updated version with no glitches!

After two and a half days of creation time, students will share the created videos to the teacher through the Google Drive exporting option in the Explain Everything app.

iMovie Trailers For Renewable Energy Resources In Applications of Physical Science

Students in Mrs. Wojcik's, Applications of Physical Science class, have developed companies that provide "Renewable Energy Resources".  To promote these companies to a fictional character, students created iMovie Trailers.

Best Learning Experiences of 2011-2012

Taking an idea from @coolcatteacher as seen below...

I asked each of our students the following question,

"What was your best learning experience of the year?"

I created the entire movie on an iPad with iMovie and can't be more thrilled with the result.  Not only by their answers, but by the quality of the video.

Some students gave detailed answers, some shortened them up.  Either way, I am thankful I took the time to ask!  My advice would be Vicki's advice, "Take one day to LISTEN to your students talk about their best learning experience in your classroom this year."

Skitch App Two More Uses

The Skitch App continues to be a go to tool!

What would have required me to print off 50 sheets of paper with no opportunity to share the completed work, turned into a use of the app and blogging about our learning.




Different Math Class:
I really liked the use of the Skitch app as shown below.  We have been introducing the students to the area of trapezoids and triangles.  In the past, we would have simply looked at black outlines of these shapes in our white paged textbook.

With the Skitch App, we took real pictures of shapes found in our world and applied the formula and what we knew.
